SNOW STORM

My wife reckon that we have had a snow storm this winter. We had visits from five sisters and two brothers. My brother Verne came all the way from Italy with his daughter and suprised me for my birthday. After they all left I contemplated the great thing that is the family. All the connections and memories of passed adventures flooded back into my brain.
It was nice to have them in my house for a change and to be able to entertain them instead of them entertaining me. The kids loved having their uncles and aunties with them. They played and fought with their cousins and cried when they all had to leave.
Sometimes I wish the world was a smaller place so that we could see each other everyday. Thank goodness for skype and the internet which allows us to share from afar. Thanks for coming, you are always welcome at our house. Until it snows again down under.

SNOW BAND

When I was a kid I always wanted to be in a band, a rock star with my groupies following me around. Never happened. Now that I have children I see that they have more posability then me. More instruments than I ever had to practice on and more talent. Even the baby has a better chance then I had of having groupies. After a few renditions of baba black sheep and twinkle twinkle little star the tupperware and pans were put away for another day of instrumental chaos. Music to my ears.

HOLIDAY

We had a fabulous holiday to Coromandel, one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand. One of the highlights of our trip was coming across the above robot. We all had to stop to take a closer look. The boys thought it was a very unusual robot and as we had a better look we decided that they were right. It appeared to have all the right nuts and bolts and it's plumbing seemed to be in good condition. It was named the nudeydudey and I assured the boys it could not be taken home with us.

ADVENTURES IN FEEDING

Karlos did not like solids and refused to eat anything but mum's milk. We decided we would start introducing some solids to his diet and give him some freedom to try them himself. As you can see it was highly succesful. The food succesfully made it everywhere but his stomach. Hmm. The joys of parenthood.

FIRST HAIRCUT

I BEGGED MY WIFE TO LET MY BABY KEEP HIS CURLS. WE CAME TO AN AGREEMENT. SHE WOULD NOT TOUCH HIS HAIR UNTIL HIS FIRST BIRTHDAY, BUT AS IT GOT CLOSER AND CLOSER TO THE DATE I GOT MORE NERVOUS. MY BABY, THE GOLDEN LOCKS. PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT WAS TWO WEEKS AFTER HIS BIRTHDAY. I WENT TO WORK THINKING ALL WAS WELL AND THAT MY WIFE HAD FORGOTTEN OUR AGREEMENT. AT FIVE O'CLOCK I WALKED OUT AND SUPRISINGLY FOUND MY FAMILY WAITING IN THE CAR FOR ME. AS I WALKED TOWARDS THE CAR I SAW A LITTLE BOY. WHO IS THAT I THOUGHT.

MY BABY. WHERE HAVE YOU GONE. INSTEAD THERE SAT A LITTLE BOY, NO CURLS BUT STILL THAT BIG HUGE SMILE AND THOSE BIG BLUE EYES. OH WELL I SIGHED, THE CURLS ARE GONE BUT MY LITTLE BOY WILL ALWAYS BE MY BABY.
WE ARRIVED HOME AND OUT OF THE BLUE HE STUCK HIS TONGUE OUT AT ME. I GUESS HE WAS LETTING ME KNOW THAT I CAN'T STOP HIM FROM GROWING UP. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARLOS. MY LITTLE BOY. WE LOVE YOU.
